Looks much cleaner. Thanks for adding the mailing list.

I think an equine first aid guide would be a useful app. With heart rates, breathing, temperatures etc that you set for your individual horse. And a quick reference guide to dealing with injuries and ailments. There are some good human ones out there but none for horses.

Two ideas, or maybe one. How about an app for horse records/documents: veterinary info (last shots, coggins, etc), as well as registration and membership numbers (including USEF or local show organization membership numbers)

Second, or as part of the above, a horse show records app, so one can easily keep track of shows entered and results--again, set up for local shows as well as A rated stuff. This information can be critical in the event of an insurance claim, so an easy way to track it would be wonderful.

Years ago, someone wrote a program for the Palm platform, for competition dogs, called 'datadog.' It is still out there, and is a great model to look at, although it could be a little easier to use! And, since there isn't an app like that for dogs, you might want to go there too!

Thanks Judi,

I moved your post into this section along with other ideas for apps. We are midway through the development of EquiEvents - a show planning and results tracking app. Will definitely look into 'datadog'. Have also started on an EquiInfo App that keeps track of Feed, Veterinary, Farrier and general horse info. Will email you once these are live.

Appreciate your post.

A gymkhana app would be helpful to. Maybe a time card for gymkhana!

I agree that some kind of first aid app would be helpful. Also something to help you remember courses and dressage patterns while practicing.

i think there should be a barn list for every day things in the barn.

I think an app on conformation and training tips for all the different breeds would be useful. Something like a full out dictionary on every breed out there. Like for a quarter horse or a paint horse or a fjord.

I can't wait for equiinfo to come out! Sounds great. I totally agree with christine on the first aid app and something to remember coarses on. Also, what about equipic or something like that. So you can have differant catergories eg. Shows, personal and pics of your horse? Just an idea. Abbey.

Just a quick development update:
We've had a busy summer of contract work - that funds our EquiApps development :) Good news now is that we will be concentrating on getting updates and new apps out this fall.

Thanks everyone for your ideas and comments.

Question - do you have any plans to port the Equi apps to another platform, say.... Android? :-)

I would love to see an App for Eventers, Knowing that the lower level cant wear watches
So maybe an application were you could type how fast your suppose to go per minute and that will make your speed like EquiTempo
Also an application for measuring strides between grids and courses and stuff like that :)
Thanks for making applications for riders, appreciate it alot :)

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Equi Info as well. I agree with the suggestion to have a reference tab for basic vitals like Temp, Respiration, and hear rate then have fields to fill in that info along with other routine "maintenance" like worming, etc. I think that could help horse owners know what is normal for their horse and be able to recognize changes.

I would also love an app that is a training log. I am in the process of bringing my mare back into work and would love to track our "workouts" and progress...and it would be great to have some basic training routines as guides/samples. Maybe 3-5 different 30-60 min "lesson plans" for different levels? It is easy to get in a rut when you are doing this kind of slow and steady progression work. Heart rate and respiration info could be useful here too.

I also agree with the first aid and the checklist with the barn chores. That would be very helpful.
now, it would be very helpful if there could be a document app, where it could have everything with vet appointments to the horses registration files. With a calender for dates for shows and such. Thanks for considering! =) Brooke

Hi RidingArts. We do have plans to expand to devices that support the Adobe Flash Mobile player(including Blackberry and Android).

Thanks zoomanda, Brook and Jess for you feature/app ideas. I agree with your ideas. As we build a user community these ideas will appear more quickly.

Open question to everyone. If there was an Apple iSlate (http://www.techtree.com/India/News/Apple_iSlate-iGuide_Tablet_Rumor_Turmoil/551-108435-615.html) would you use it around the barn?

Something that would be very useful is a dressage test app. It could either read it out to you as you ride so you can learn it or have it written up with diagrams of the test. I have often searched to see if there is an app. like this but have not found one.

Love the dressage patterns - now can you do the reining ones too?

February 8, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKristin

Not everyone has an I phone... What about us? Besides, I phones do not get very good reception at the horse shows I go to...

February 9, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterdenise

Great idea Kristin. Would the National Reining Horse Association be the main body that manages these patterns?

February 10, 2010 | Registered CommenterEquiApps

Hi Denise. We do have plans to move to other devices, though first have to prove out a sustainable business with the largest mobile application provider (iPhone and iPod Touch). I am looking forward to Android and Blackberry apps. What do you use? What devices do you see the most of at horse shows? Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Hi all!

I am chiming in to plead for Android apps. After leaving the corporate world, I am switching this week from Blackberry to an Android phone. I am seeing more and more Android phones on the street. Will definitely take a look at shows, competitions and along with asking clients about their personal choices. Will be glad to forward any and all feedback to you.

As for my personal wishes for a program, an overall health record would be great, along with a touchscreen jpg that records freehand drawing. I am an equine masseuse and this would be a great contributor to my work.

Great work on the apps already on the market!
Elaine
