Thanks. Nice to have around the barn. I would like to save weights for a number of horses.

Yes, we have thought about this. An app we have in development, EquiInfo, will allow you to save horse weights along with other data about a group of horses.

I am excited to see all the new horse apps coming out, but dissapointed that I can't save weights for individual horses. I this I'll wait for the newer one. I would like a place to enter each horse, worming schedule, vacc schedule, major and minor medical, description of horse and photos. Also possibly a note section under each catagory, for additional info.
Can't wait for the improvements!!!

Yes. The app for saving individual horse information is EquiInfo. We're working on it. :)
Thanks for the feedback.
EquiApps
Great update. Much more useful to be able to update weights for individual horses.

I just got this app and there are already 3 saved weights in the app titled "Laurie" ...are these just examples pre loaded in the app?

forgot to ask my main question about this app...is the formula used for "horse" accurate for draft breeds as well? If not do you have a modification to use for heavy breeds?
zoomanda
Yes zoomanda. These are sample entries from my horse :) I wanted to illustrate how you could keep separate entries for the same horse over time. To delete them just swipe across the entry with one finger and then tap the delete button.
We have not tested the app with draft horses. Good point. Will look into this, as there likely is a modification to the formula.

I am not sure this app is functioning properly. I have a 15hh 2 yr old Appaloosa when I entered his measurements into the App it calculate his weight to be 505kgs!! Weigh Tape = 450kgs! I also have a 15hh PBA who although over weight just now is most definitely not 597kgs! Again weight tape had him at 505kgs. Please can you advise? Thank you

Lynda,
Thanks for posting. Could you please describe how you are measuring? If you let the tape wrap around the shoulder or haunches you would have a longer body length and therefore a higher weight. Also, the girth measurement is taken from behind the withers.

The EquiCalc formula used to estimate weight in this calculator is ((heart girth inches x heart girth inches x body length inches)/320=estimated body weight in pounds for a horse. For a yearling, divide by 300. For a foal, divide by 280. We have arrived at this formula by testing the results against the nomogram developed by C. L. Carroll and P. J. Huntington.

A simple utility app, EquiCalc, was launched today. This app will help you estimate your horses weight.
