About Us

Numen Communications Inc. was formed in 1998 as a consulting company with expertise in educational technology and visual communication design.

As the iPhone, iPod Touch and the iTunes app store were launched in 2008, we became interested in small portable applications that could fill a niche need.

Tanya Heins, a principal in Numen, started developing apps to suit her 'horsey' lifestyle. Tanya started riding at 10 years old. As a teenager she competed in jumping and cross-country. Returning as an adult, Tanya’s been mostly interested in dressage, but also enjoys a good hack.

Our initial Apps are EquiTempo and EquiCalc.  In 2010 we added FEI EquiTests, USDF EquiTests and USEF EquiTests - a series of Apps that help users learn and reference competition dressage tests. In support of the FEI CleanSport initiative EquiApps worked with the FEI team to publish the free FEI Cleansport Database of prohibited substances for equine athletes, to a mobile app.  

Initially, we've published these apps for sale on iTunes to determine interest from the equestrian community.  Thanks to everyone who takes the time to email and comment.
